Financial Controller

Role Summary
The Financial Controller will help implement financial processes and systems as Vigilent continues to expand. They will work with the CFO to ensure a common-sense approach in developing and managing the continued build-out of financial controls and implementing the systems necessary for us to scale. The successful candidate will support the transformation of the accounting department from a reporter of accurate and timely historical data to a trusted and sought after business partner- able to provide insights on a strategic and operational basis.

What You Will Do
  • Lead the accounting function, developing and implementing the strategy and structure required to support current operations and future company growth
  • Set accounting policies and practices to ensure best-in-class accounting capabilities
  • Oversee the general ledger, maintenance of financial records, technical accounting, preparation of financial reporting, and accounting systems 
  • Produce consolidated financial statements in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and related internal financial reports on a timely basis
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to understand key risks and processes in the organization to ensure appropriate business controls are maintained
  • Assist with cash forecasting and FP&A
  • Build and develop the accounting team to deliver department goals in an efficient and effective manner
  • Lead and manage specialized accounting projects and cross functional efforts
  • Manage relationships with external auditors and other parties supporting technical accounting matters
What We Need to See
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance or accounting with a strong academic background
  • 5+ years of experience with increasing levels of responsibility
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate and manage well at all levels of an organization
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to exercise sound judgement and make decisions based on accurate and timely analyses.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
What We Would Like to See
  • CPA certification, active or inactive / public accounting experience
  • Software company experience
  • Exposure to foreign subsidiaries and consolidations
  • Strong familiarity with hardware and software accounting, including SaaS
  • Experience managing relationships with external auditors
  • Large and small/mid-size company experience with a track record of driving positive results in hands-on environments
  • Experience with QuickBooks Enterprise, online stock compensation tools (Solium Shareworks) and Salesforce

Hiring Details
Job Location: Remote or based in Oakland, CA headquarters
Start Date: Immediate
Hire Type: Full-time, Regular, Direct Hire (Principals Only)
Salary: $115,000-$175,000
Benefits: Health, Transit, Flex Spending, 401(k), meaningful equity
Must be able to pass a background check
